Aspiring toy and game inventors – or anyone with a flair for the creative – are going to want to take note, because Mojo Nation has just released its first published title that asserts it can teach anyone to invent a board game.
Called The Snakes & Ladders of Creative Thinking, the book has been written by Mojo Nation’s Billy Langsworthy and Deej Johnson, and shows how anyone can have more ideas for games, improve them, and then get them ready to pitch.
Its contents boast numerous reliable creative techniques, and is filled with interviews with industry creatives, including conversations with retailers, publishers and successful game designers talking about their creative processes.
Distributing copies of the new book ahead of a more formal launch at New York Toy Fair, co-author, Deej Johnson, said: “Billy Langsworthy and I have worked on this for over a year; we’re thrilled that it’s come to fruition. The book includes many of the most tried-and-tested creative techniques I know, but the jewel in the crown has to be the interviews at the back of the book. The professional insights are just remarkable.”
The interviews section includes chats with John Lewis buyer Lucy Benham and Hasbro’s inventor-relation titan Rich Mazel. There are also conversations with the creators of popular games such as Exploding Kittens, Pandemic Legacy, Obama Llama, Kingdomino, Happy Salmon, Accentuate, Hail Hydra, Junk Art, Chow Crown, Wingspan, Rubik’s Cage and many more.
Deej Johnson is a freelance creative consultant, writer, speaker and author. Billy Langsworthy is the co-founder of Mojo Nation: a company dedicated to the celebration and communication of great ideas in the toy and game industry.
Together, their client list includes Hasbro, TOMY, Bananagrams, Spin Master, Tactic Games, Rubik’s, Asmodee and numerous new and professional inventors.
