Bulldog Licensing prepares for surge in demand for Match Attax as Euro 2020 draws closer

As the country prepares for Euro 2020 this summer, a surge of confidence surrounds Topps’ latest Match Attax trading cards line that, according to the brand’s licensing agent Bulldog Licensing, is sure to see a stark rise in popularity as the tournament draws closer.

Bulldog Licensing is the UK outfit responsible for growing the reach and engagement of the Match Attax brand that has so far already taken the trading card name into fashion, softlines, and publishing.

Both Topps and Match Attax have become synonymous with success in the sports’ trading card market and, with a new format to its playability that has fans chasing down cards featuring the greatest players in world football, there is confidence that the range will finish top of the sales tables this season.

Bulldog Licensing has already secured deals with the likes of Fashion UK, delivering extensive daywear lines, and Cooneen/Misirli who is seeing strong sales of its nightwear across multiple retailers.

Meanwhile, the Centum Books range of annuals and book tins add to the brand’s strong heritage in publishing, which sees it deliver the UK’s biggest selling one-shot kids magazine with Kennedy Publishing.

Over 1.3m UK kids buy into the collectable series every year and on average one Match Attax pack is sold every 1.2 seconds. The brand is supported with a TV and print marketing campaign backed by some of the world’s biggest stars – including this year’s TV ad which stars Lionel Messi – and is sold in over 46,000 outlets around the country.

Rob Corney, MD, Bulldog Licensing, said: “We always see a massive spike in sales for Match Attax and all football merchandise around major tournaments, and this summer, we’re sure to see a surge in interest among consumers.

“Match Attax offers the perfect solution for retailers looking to capitalise on the extraordinary fanbase for the brand without the risk associated with club or country. The leading IP has already started the year at the very top of its game, so it’s onwards and upwards for 2020 – ‘nothing comes close to the power of Match Attax’.”
