A toy shop owner has been making local headlines across Truro in Cornwall, praising the 20 year old entrepreneur for ‘igniting and exciting the local shopping scene.’
Harry Stacey, the proprietor of Truro’s Harry’s Toy Chest, caused a clamour among the locals this past weekend when he officially opened the doors to his toy, games, and collectables shop’s new location in Truro’s city centre.
Stacey was forced to employ a ‘one-in, one-out’ policy on the door as queues of locals formed to pay a visit to the pre-owned and collectables toy shop, to catch a glimpse and snag a bargain among the wealth of products, from LEGO to Sylvanian Families and Star Wars toys on offer.
The youngster opened his shop Harry’s Toy Chest – an homage to Duncan’s Toy Chest from the film Home Alone 2 – inside Truro’s Pannier Market two years ago, when he was just 18 years old.
The venture became such a success among locals that Stacey was able to move the business to its new home in the centre.
“It was a risk moving to Victoria Square, but it seems to have paid off. Saturday was the best day of my life, with the town crier announcing it was open and the queues of people,” Stacey told Cornwall Live. “The show was packed. I was completely blown away – I felt like shedding a tear.”
The Falmouth University student, who is currently in his second year of a business and entrepreneurship degree opened Harry’s Toy Chest on Small Business Day.
Among the products on offer is a large selection of Pokémon cards, Star Wars figures, Dinky and Hornby vehicles, games spanning the generations and more.
