Spin Master and KidZania support Spread a Smile charity through family day out

Spin Master UK partnered with KidZania last week to deliver around 70 children and their families a grand day out in support of the UK charity, Spread a Smile.

The toymaker organised the event as part of its Global Week of Giving, designed to ensure all employees have the opportunity to give back. Spin Master UK arranged a special visit to KidZania for families who have children with life-limiting illnesses.

The families were given a chance to enjoy KidZania exclusively for the morning. Spin Master funded the event and helped run additional activities giving the kids a further opportunity to play with a range of toys and games around the special zones within the City.

The children enjoyed all that KidZania has to offer, including the Luvabella Newborn Nursery, which is sponsored by Spin Master. They also enjoyed the Go Glam nail bar and Cool Maker Kumi-bracelet making station, building Meccano, racing Monster Jam trucks around the Cricket pitch and meeting PAW Patrol characters Chase and Marshall organised by Rainbow Productions.

Towards the end of the session, the families enjoyed a picnic lunch in the Town Square, and when it was time to leave, The team presented each child with a specially wrapped gift from Spin Master, along with Cupcakes from Lola’s, which had been organised by the Charity.

Josephine Segal from Spread a Smile, said: “We have a fantastic relationship with Spin Master, and when they offered to arrange this opportunity for some of our families, we were very excited.

“Many of our children are living with serious illness, and sadly it’s not always possible for them to attend venues such as KidZania when they are open to the general public. To have this opportunity meant a great deal for our families who were able to have a lovely and relaxed morning out, giving them lots of fun and enjoyment and creating special memories as a family.”

Jo Thompson, Spin Master’s PR Manager, who organised the event, added: “When we were asked to get involved in the Global Week of Giving, this was an obvious thing to do. We love working with Spread and Smile, and our ongoing work with KidZania made this a natural choice for all the reasons that Josephine has mentioned.

“It was great to be able to involve all our team in something that meant everyone could give back a little.  It’s very humbling to be able to help put smiles of the faces of these brave children who have serious health conditions along with their siblings who miss out on so much.”
