Funimation and pop culture retailer FYE partner on My Hero Academia product line

The anime giant, Funimation has struck up a new partnership with FYE, a specialty retailer of pop culture merchandise, to launch a new collection of My Hero Academia-themed exclusive products.

The first launch in the new partnership is the curation of an exclusive My Hero Academia Crate, a subscription box developed in tandem with Japan Crate. Available only through FYE, the crate features an assortment of My Hero Academia sweets and snacks from Japan.

All crates include a free trial subscription to the FunimationNow anime streaming service.

Next up is the exclusive Plus Ultra Cereal. Each box is packed with an Ultra Berry Blast cereal. This is joined by the exclusive Bakugo’s Explosion Chocolate Bar. This My Hero Academia collection is available exclusively at FYE stores and for a limited time.

The launch coincides not only with the new season of My Hero Academia, now streaming on FunimationNow and Hulu, but with the rising popularity of anime and manga here in the UK and Western markets.

The popularity of anime brands has risen to new heights in recent years, fuelled largely by the vastly popular Pokémon franchise, and supported by the success of the likes of Dragon Ball. UK retailers have reported a rise in sales of anime-inspired items such as plush and collectable figures, as well as the internationally popular Pokémon Trading Card Game.

As access and awareness around anime and manga continues to grow here in the UK, the popularity of the genre is expected to continue to grow, too.
