BBC Studios launches Hey Duggee exhibition at London’s Design Museum

BBC Studios launched its new partnership with the Design Museum to throngs of families and children today, when it officially opened a new exhibition celebrating the success and design behind its hit CBeebies series, Hey Duggee.

The Designing Duggee exhibition will run from October 25 to 28 and allows fans to explore the design story behind Hey Duggee, created by Studio AKA, as well as discover how characters are made and find out what makes each episode interesting and appealing to its audience.

The free exhibition is open to the public between Friday 25th and Monday 28th October, before returning to the Design Museum between Saturday, December 28 and Monday, January 6.

Saturday December 28 will also see the launch of a new workshop experience at London’s Design Museum. Titled the ‘Design Workshop with Hey Duggee’ it’s marked as ‘the perfect occasion for children to get creative and earn their Design Badge.’

Hey Duggee, a Studio AKA production with BBC Studios, is a six time BAFTA and two time international Emmy award-winning hit on CBeebies and consistently ranks as one of the top three programmes on the channel. The show has a global footprint in over 150 territories, with over 1 billion minutes of YouTube watch time.

Laura Connor, global brand manager, children’s, BBC Studios, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the Design Museum on such a fun, exciting and unique exhibition. Hey Duggee has become a much-loved brand and this fantastic collaboration will allow fans both little and big to explore the design, animation and production process behind Duggee and the squirrels.”

Grant Orchard, creator of Hey Duggee, Studio AKA, added: “As a child I used to go to the Commonwealth Museum and be inspired by what I saw there, so it’s such an honour to have my early sketches, designs and concepts on display at what has now become the Design Museum.

“The exhibition offers our creative fans a chance to explore the design secrets behind Hey Duggee’s success, and I hope that it will inspire children to pick up a pencil and get sketching too.”
