Hasbro turns Monopoly Upside Down with Collector’s Edition Stranger Things board game

Hasbro has swapped the standard houses and hotels for forts and glow-in-the-dark hideouts in a special collector’s edition Stranger Things Monopoly set.

Celebrating the return of the popular sci-fi series for a third season on Netflix – one that secured record viewing figures for the streaming giant – Hasbro is sending board gamers into the Upside Down, as it flips the conventional Monopoly gameplay on its head.

The Collector’s Editions Stranger Things Monopoly sees a redesigned board take centre place, featuring graphics of the show’s main characters, with different locations and creatures from the series places on its perimeter.

The usual player tokens have been replaced with various iconic items from the show, such as cassette tapes, Sheriff Hooper’s hat, and a Walkie Talkie, while houses and hotels are now forts and hide outs.

The traditional Monopoly cards have been consolidated into Upside Down cards – presumably with the power to turn the entire on its head at any minute.

The Monopoly Stranger Things Collector’s Edition retails at $50. Hasbro is currently taking pre-orders.
