The popular animated property, Oddbods is really ramping up its global activity this year, having just secured a major toy launch across Walmart Mexico, while stepping up its licensing game across Europe with the appointment of a new licensing agency in Planeta Junior.
One Animation has taken steps to strengthen its hold on the Latin American market with its big toy roll out across Mexico in a deal that follows a slew of TV broadcast, VOD and SVOD partnerships for the series across the country.
As a result, Walmart Mexico is now launching a range of interactive Oddbods plush, figurines, vehicles, and play-sets in its top 28 stores.
To celebrate, Turner will be airing a series of Oddbods on-air marathons across both its Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels, coupled with digital support on its Mexican site.
Pauline Hiu, VP consumer products LATAM at One Animation, said: “Mexico is a highly significant market for us and one in which are we are placing considerable energy and resource. We’re thrilled to announce the commitment from Walmart and from our key broadcast partners in the region, which is reflective of the high calibre of collaborations Oddbods is now attracting on a global scale.”
Jaime Jimenez, content director at Turner Kids, Mexico and Colombia, added: “We’re very excited to be collaborating with One Animation to bring this fantastic show to the next level in Mexico. The Oddbods have been very well received on both our Cartoon Network and Boomerang channels, so it’s great that Mexican kids now have the opportunity to interact with them off screen too.”
Oddbods’ on air success to date reflects the brand’ global trend, with 10BN views and 8.5M subscribers generated to date across its various YouTube channels and a sizeable number of new licensing deals across Asia, Middle East and Africa soon to be announced.
On top of this, One Animation has now appointed Planeta Junior of Grupo Planeta / De Agostini, as its European licensing agent. The Barcelona-based agency will build a licensing program for the Oddbods in categories, include apparel, accessories, back to school, home and giftware, and publishing.
At the same time, One Animation has detailed multiple multi-category deals across the Benelux region brokered by CPLG which includes a collection of arts and crafts products, colouring books, stationery, partyware, games and puzzles.
This will all launch in the first half of 2020. It will all be joined by Speelgoedland’s upcoming range of accessories, arts and crafts, bags, watches, pocket money toys, and stationery.
Meanwhile, consumers in the UK will be able to both celebrate and get organised with the Oddbods, as Playpress readies a range of 3D pop-out greeting cards and calendars for launch in AW19, along with play-sets based on the popular animation.
Sashim Parmanand, CEO of One Animation, commented: “The Oddbods brand is on an unbelievable trajectory of growth which is showing no signs of slowing. We’re thrilled to have some best in class partners joining our consumer products programme and are looking forward to working closely with them to roll out fun, first class products from later this year.”
