LEGO and NASA collaborate to launch Apollo 11 moon landing kit

A new LEGO collaboration with NASA has just witnessed the landing of a new Apollo 11 mission building set, enabling fans to re-enact the historic moon landing.

The 1,087-piece LEGO Creator Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander kit has been launched to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic 1969 mission, in which Apollo 11 landed the first two people on the moon.

LEGO and NASA both worked together to develop the set, which features both a descent and ascent stage.

The descent stage sees the Apollo 11 use its gold-coloured landing pads and panels, laser hatches, and a ladder, while the ascent stage gives builders the chance to create the craft’s detailed interior.

The set comes with two astronaut minifigures: Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, who come complete with gold visors on their helmets.

The third and final phase of the kit is the NASA moon base phase, featuring craters, a nameplate, footprints, and a section for a flag. The kit will be available in LEGO stores and online from June 1st with a £84.99 price tag.
