The global games publisher, Asmodee has created its own fiction imprint under the name Aconyte Books. The division will be publishing novels based on a number of the firm’s best selling game properties.
As part of its mission, Aconyte will also be actively pursuing licenses for third-party tie-in fiction, with the first of these said to be at contract stage.
Aconyte will start a monthly publication schedule from early summer 2020, producing paperbacks and ebooks for the US, UK and overseas trade.
For this new venture, Asmodee has tapped Marc Gascoigne, the former publisher and MD of the scifi publishing house Angry Robot. Gascoigne has hired assistant editor, Lottie Llewelyn-Wells and publishing coordinator, Nick Tyler to join him in the company’s new offices in Nottingham.
Aconyte forms part of Asmodee Entertainment move to bring its portfolio of IP into formats such as film and TV, comics books and location-based entertainment, merchandise and novels.
Head of Asmodee, Andy Jones, said: “Asmodee’s stated mission is to bring the world Great Games, Amazing Stories, Aconyte is another key milestone along that path, literally creating those amazing stories and bringing further depth, intrigue, characters, and narrative to some of the best game worlds ever created.”
