Tech Deck carves out ‘exciting return’ with UK National Skateboard Championships sponsorship

Spin Master’s action sports brand Tech Deck has carved into sponsorship of the premiere of the UK National Skateboard Championships in Manchester this weekend.

Kicking off today, the BBC live streamed three-day event takes place at Graystone Skatepark and is the first official national skateboarding competition to be held in England. The event will see competitors earning qualifying points for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

More than 140 of the UK’s best skateboarders will compete in street and park disciplines, with confirmed skateboarders including Jordan Sharkey, Sky Brown, Alex Decunha, Jordan Thackeray and Alex Hallford.

Now, with the growing popularity of skateboarding and the sport recognised for the first time in the Olympic Games in 2020, Tech Deck is making a strike, and the brand is “looking forward to an exciting year ahead.”

Tech Deck is the authentic, miniature replica line of action sports toys and collectibles, featuring real graphics from the world’s biggest and most coveted skateboarding brands. The line allows fans to build and customise their favourite boards, and then let their fingers do the skating.

Tech Deck’s sponsorship of the National Skateboarding Championships includes impactful ramp branding, Tech Deck stickers for board customisation, product giveaways and more. Fans will be able to get their hands on their favourite skateboarding brands in miniature size with the Teck Deck single boards.

Tech Deck’s marketing campaign for 2019 will also see the brand partner with high profile British skateboarders to create exciting digital and social content bringing the fingerboard craze to life.

Phil Hooper, Spin Master Toys UK commercial director, marketing, said: “We are delighted to support the National Skateboarding Championships as we continue to be a champion of the action sports community. Ensuring we reach new and current fans at this grassroots level is essential for a brand like Tech Deck where word of mouth drives that all-important buzz. Tech Deck is set for a kick flip of a year.”

Nic Powley from Skateboard England added: “Tech Deck is a perfect partner for the Championships, and we are very excited to have the brand back on board. With the UK’s top talent taking part and Olympic qualification points at stake, this weekend is one of the highlights in the skateboarding calendar.”
