This year’s concluding instalment in Disney’s Star Wars trilogy will mark “a nice time to take a pause,” on the sci-fi saga, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has told national media.
Disney revealed the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at Star Wars Celebration this weekend.
It was here that Kennedy also outlined the franchise’s upcoming hiatus, stating that “it’s not only the perfect time, it’s exactly what we had in mind.”
The release of JJ Abrams’ Rise of Skywalker will conclude the 42 year old Skywalker saga that kicked off back in 1977 with the original Star Wars film. The franchise has also given rise to the spin-off titles Rogue One and Solo.
Kennedy has stated that Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss were meeting with the Lucasfilm story group “to start talking about where we are going for the next decade. We wanted to have the time and not feel like we were rushing to meet a release date.”
Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker lands in cinemas this December. Check out the teaser trailer below:
