LEGO is honouring 90 years of Mickey Mouse with a Steamboat Willie-inspired set

LEGO is to honour 90 years of Disney’s poster-mouse, Mickey with the release of a new set inspired by the animation that gave life to the studio’s best-loved creation.

Launching on April 1st this year, the Steamboat Willie LEGO set takes inspiration from the classic animation that first aired on November 18th, 1928.

The concept was struck upon via LEGO’s fan invention platform, LEGO Ideas, the concept that has spawned the likes of the LEGO Yellow Submarine, LEGO TARDIS and LEGO Delorean, and will launch to commemorate 90s years of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The Steamboat Willie set will retail at around £80 and will come with 751 pieces to construct the iconic scene. The set will be black and white, like the animation itself and will come with two minifigures.
