At least 50 more branches of Intertoys will close following Green Swan takeover

At least 52 more branches of the Dutch toy chain, Intertoys are to close permanently, on top of the 91 already earmarked, the company confirmed late last week.

A further ten are also on the closure list, the company has stated, but may be taken over by franchises.

It means that at least 153 of the 286 Intertoys branches in the Netherlands will shut down, while the 103 stores currently operated by franchisees are not likely to be affected.

Intertoys went bust last month, three weeks after being given court protection from its creditors, but last week was taken over by the Portuguese investment group, Green Swan.

In January, Green Swan bought the Maxi Toys group from Blokker Holding and in August 2018 it acquired the Spanish and Portuguese operations of Toys R Us.
