The Entertainer named Best Retailer Under £250m at Retail Week Awards

Not content with hitting the headlines once this week already with its Early Learning Centre acquisition, The Entertainer has now been named the winner of The Retail Week Awards 2019’s Best Retailer Under £250m.

The accolade was handed to founder Gary Grant at a ceremony held last night at Grosvenor House in London, where the retailer was praised by judges for its ‘ability to innovate and thrive,’ in what has been a tough space for toys.

One judge said: “The Entertainer has never lost sight of what the business is and where it’s going. The retailer has done it year in, year out. In terms of operating in what’s been a tough market, it has been on its game and is really clear about what it wants to do.

“It is winning in the market. The retailer really is one for others to look at, and it’s got its own culture.”

Last year, The Entertainer opened the doors of its refurbished flagship store in London’s Westfield in White City. The revamped store now boasts Launch Pad tech tables, interactive floor projections, AR mirrors and animated window screens.

The judges also said that ‘The Entertainer’s success was a textbook example of how to stay ahead through changing times and changing competition.
