Smyths Toys celebrates 60 years of Barbie with UK wide party

Smyths Toys Superstores across the UK have joined in the 60th anniversary celebrations for Mattel’s iconic fashion doll, Barbie with its very own ‘You Can BE Anything Event.’

Kicking off at the retailer’s flagship London store in Staples Corner, and rolling out at Smyths locations across the UK, the toy shop welcomed upwards of 3,000 visitors with a party over a two-day event.

Running from Saturday, March 9th from 10am to 5pm and then on Sunday, March 10th from 11am to 5pm, Cupcake Surprise Toys joined in on the celebrations at ight different locations around the country. 

Attendees got to experience face painting, parent and child play and learn area, free goodie bags that included a Chelsea doll and a copy of the Barbie magazine, as well as photo opportunities to mark the special occasion. 

The first 100 attendee’s to purchase a Barbie product to the value of £9.99 also received a free photo frame.

Smyths Toys joint head of marketing, Sinead Byrne, commented: "We are thrilled to have hosted our ‘You Can Be Anything’ Barbie event in selected stores throughout the UK.
