With nearly £5 million in crowdfunding this board game is Kickstarter’s biggest project of 2018

Kickstarter has crowned a successfully funded board game called Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon as its biggest project of 2018.

The tabletop game hit its target of £40,000 in a matter of hours of going live on the crowdfunding site and went on to secure nearly £5 million by the end of December. The project is still live and taking pledges.

With more than 40,000 backers, the final game is scheduled to be delivered in August this year.

The game is a complex strategy game aimed at the more hardcore board gamer and comes with a 100,000 word book of story scripts and hundreds of markers, tokens, cards and several different boards provided. The story itself has 15 chapters, each of which take up to four hours to complete.

The game is based upon the Arthurian legends and allows for solo or co-operative play for one to four players. It is described as “adventure, survival and exploration perfectly paired with character development and exciting combat and diplomatic systems.”

The game has been devised by Awaken Realms, a Nottingham based miniature painting, creator and publishing outfit.
