The world of Playmobil is making its jump to the big screen with the release of the first teaser trailer for Playmobil: The Movie.
The film is just the latest in the recent wave of toy-based franchises to undergo the Hollywood treatment, following the likes of DreamWorks Trolls and the success of The LEGO Movie in 2014.
Created by the German toymaker Brandstatter Group in 1974, the Playmobil toy line encompasses a variety of themes and characters and has already made its jump to the TV and boasts a number of Playmobil theme parks across Europe.
The teaser trailer for the first CGI movie is now online. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Maria, a young woman whose brother Charlie is brought into the world of Playmobil. Maria sets out on an adventure to rescue her sibling as she meets the likes of Del – a smooth-talking food truck driver, Rex Dasher, a secret agent, and a fairy godmother voiced by Meghan Trainor.
The Playmobil Movie is scheduled to land in 2019.
