The hirings at Mattel keep on coming at the firm’s new division, Mattel Films brings in Kevin McKeon as supervising producer.
Reporting to Robbie Brenner, the recently hired executive producer and head, McKeon will shepherd the development of feature film content for Mattel’s brands and other related creative content, as well as supervise during the production and post-production processes.
He will also work to cultivate relationships with filmmakers and industry creatives for Mattel Films and its brands.
McKeon and Brenner have previously worked together, most recently as a production executive at Unburdened Entertainment where Brenner was principal and at Relativity Media’s independent label Relatively Squared, where he served as a creative executive.
This is the latest in slew of recent appointments at Mattel as the company looks to execute a major turnaround plan having seen sales suffer at the loss of Toys R Us and in the months preceding that.
Mattel is tapping up Hollywood as its next big money making venture, bringing brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels to the big screens as it follows Hasbro’s already successful lead in the space.
