Paper Owl Films, the creators of the hit children’s TV series and first of its kind to feature an all-autistic core cast, Pablo, is looking to move into the world of print.
The firm has confirmed that it is in discussions with several major publishers to bring the animated series into the world of children’s literature with the help of industry consultant, Ingrid Selberg.
Selberg, the MD of Ingrid Selberg Consulting is working with Paper Owl Films to explore a range of new licensing and publishing opportunities to expand Pablo’s brand reach and impact in new markets.
It’s not been confirmed whether this includes a move into toys.
Launched in the UK and Ireland on CBeebies and RTEJr last autumn, the successful series has taken the world by storm, headlining children’s TV schedules on international networks including NBC Universal Kids, Canada’s CBC, Australia’s ABC and Discovery Latin America.
Pablo follows the story of a five year old boy with autism who uses magic crayons to create an imaginary Art World, populated by animal characters who help him handle everyday situation in a novel way. The series is broadcasting in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Finland, Sweden, the Middle East, and Africa and will soon be available worldwide on Netflix.
According to Pablo creator and director of Paper Owl films, Grainne McGuinness, the series has introduced a “completely new voice to the autism conversation.”
