Barbie and celebrity chef Angelica Bell encourage kids into the kitchen with new cooking campaign

Barbie has partnered with the celebrity chef and TV presenter Angelica Bell in a new campaign to inspire children to get creative in the kitchen.

As an ambassador for the campaign, Angelica Bell will be leading the Barbie movement and encourage young children to cook up fun with the iconic children’s brand.

Launching a national survey of 2,000 parents, finding how skilled UK kids are in the kitchen, Bell and Barbie have teamed up on a series of local videos and posts to inspire parents and kids to cook together, with a special child-friendly recipe and a cooking masterclass.

Angelica Bell, said: “Cooking was always such an important part of my childhood and I was shocked to see so many children aren’t confident in the kitchen and are unable to create basic dishes. I love cooking with my own children, so it’s great to have partnered with Barbie to encourage cooking from a young age; and how developing these key life skills helps children to gain independence and have almost importantly, have fun.”

A Mattel spokesperson added: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Angelica Bell to inspire young children to cook, and to help educate them in the kitchen through learning new skills. It’s important for us to help children to discover their limitless potential through play, and by working with Angelica as an ambassador to tell kids #YouCanBeAChef, we hope to encourage more children to get creative in the kitchen.”

Barbie has released a supporting toy range to encourage children to not only get creative in both their imagery world through play, but also inspire cooking skills the real world. Products will include the barbie Ultimate Kitchen Play-set, Bakery Chef Doll and Play-set and Chef Career Doll.

The #YouCanBeAChef Campaign is the latest element of the Barbie You Can Be Anything campaign to inspire girls through their limitless potential. The partnership with Angelica is part of a wider campaign to support the new product line including a live event, TV advertising and digital support and retailer promotion.
