Character Options reports record sales in first half trading update

Character Options appears to have seen a return to its previous growth pattern during the second half of the year, reporting record sales for the firm’s UK domestic business.

The return to growth has been driven primarily by top selling brands such as Peppa Pig, Stretch and Teletubbies, as well as its exclusively distributed lines that include Little Live Pets and Mashems.

The Board of Character has also stated that new ranges such as Pokémon, Treasure X and Doorables Disney Collection have “been selling extremely well.”

“In addition, the growing trend of new craze lines such as Soft n Slo Squishies, Cakepop Cuties and CraZSlimy has added a new, successful supplement to the Group’s strong product portfolio.”

The board said: “We continue to witness positive listings and strong demand from our customers for our core ranges and new introductions. As a business, we feel confident of the prospects for the autumn/winter trading period which includes the all-important Christmas season. This, we believe will provide a solid foundation for the financial year ending August 31st 2018.”

The firm has also attributed its growth to its own ability to address changes and challenges within the toy market. It is now confident in the Group’s ability to grow the business and expand its presence domestically and internationally in the years to come.
