CMON smashes £1m mark on Kickstarter for Cthulu themed board game

A board game inspired by the world of HP Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos has passed the £1 million mark on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.

The title now joins an ever growing club of tabletop board game projects to break £1 million in funding as the sector continues to be one of the highest funded on the platform.

Created by CMON, Cthulhu: Death May Die has secured £1,238,771 from a staggering 10,237 backers with 12 days still to go on the site.

The game promises to take on the Cthulhu mythos like never before, putting players in charge of a ‘ragtag group of investigators’ to face the nightmarish forces as play, courtesy of the Elder Ones.

The title has been designed by Rob Daviau and Eric M Lang and features monster artwork by Adrian Smith and investigator artwork by Karl Kopinski. Each are industry veterans and names behind a run of very successful games.

The gameplay takes players through a series of battles, including each character’s own diagnosed insanity which will be triggered by encounters throughout the game.

The game set out to secure £150,000 when it launched last month.
