Tech toy Storyball brings PAW Patrol and HarperCollins’ characters to Kickstarter

A new smart toy that promises interactivity and engagement with children without the need for screen time has launched to Kickstarter.

Called Storyball, the tech toy is aimed at children aged four and upwards and encourages them to act out stories and play games and challenges through a cast of characters.

The technology behind the toy arrives in the form of one smart ball, an interactive sphere that can tell ‘thousands of different stories’ with children as they swap character skins for the product.

With a goal of £22,619 on Kickstarter, the Storyball even carries a potential for licensing, with PAW Patrol stories and character skins still awaiting licensor approval.

With 44 days remaining on the crowdfunding site, the Storyball has so far secured £1.402 in pledged backing.

‘Storyball is a revolutionary and award-winning smart toy for children that uses screen-free technology,’ read a description of the product on the campaign site.

‘Once a child takes a Storyball in their hand, they enter a world of active, imaginative play where they can complete cool challenges, take fun quizzes and go on adventures featuring their favourite characters.’

Potential licensed characters for the Storyball include Nickeldeon and Spin Master’s PAW Patrol and characters Chase and Skye from HaperCollins Children’s Books’ Magic Ballerina and Snivel the Robo Dog.

They join a cast of original Storyball creations.
