Winning Moves expands licensing outfit with ‘greater focus on video game brands’

Licensed board game specialist and home of the Top Trumps brands, Winning Moves has detailed plans to work with more video game licenses.

The firm has expanded its licensing team with the appointment of Megan Wain who – in the role of licensing manager – will head up a number of licensing accounts with particular focus on the video gaming sector.

Video games has been cited as one of Winning Moves’ fastest growing licensing sectors, in which it already works with the likes of Nintendo’s Mario and Legend of Zelda franchises.

What started as a niche part of the Winning Moves portfolio has now become some of its key lines at retail. The firm will continue to grow the video games portfolio in line with growing retail and consumer interest.

"We started with World of Warcraft Monopoly back in 2013 and now work with 11 different video game licenses, most recently launching Assassins Creed and Halo Top Trumps. 2019 will see an even bigger focus on video games for Winning Moves to keep up with the growing retail and consumer interest," Hannah Sweeney, head of brand partnerships at Winning Moves told ToyNews.

As part of this expansion, Sima Begum has also been promoted to the role of licensing executive, managing a selection of accounts, while Charlotte Waalkens continues to manage key licensor relationships at Winning Moves, including Disney, marvel and Lucas Film.

Licensing manager, Wain joins Winning Moves from the Turner and before that Rocket Licensing.

‘With experience from a licensing agent and a great licensor like Turner, we are thrilled to have Megan join the team,” said Sweeney.

“We have over 100 active brands within our portfolio, so the added resource means we can really capitalise on our portfolio and delve deeper with our licensors, ensuring even bigger growth moving forward.”
