Hasbro and Activision reveal Overwatch Nerf Rival blasters

Overwatch is teaming with Nerf to launch a series of themed blasters.

The deal between Activision Blizzard and Hasbro was detailed via the Overwatch Twitter account that simply said it was hitting shelves next year.

In a new move to bring the hit video game Overwatch to the toy space, the dart blasters will be part of the Nerf Rival line, a style of high-performance ‘precision battling’ play gun.

Overwatch fans have already been modding and customising Nerf guns to celebrate the game’s heroes including D.Va’s Light gun and Reaper’s Hellfire Shotguns.

President and CEO of Activision Blizzard Consumer Products, Tim Kilpin said that more details will follow in the coming days and weeks, ahead of the product’s launch in 2019.

“Our team has been working on this one for a while,” Kilpin said via social media. “Thrilled that we are able to announce our new partnership with Nerf today. More to come!”

Overwatch has been cited as Blizzard’s fastest growing franchise that in May last year had generated over $1bn in revenue for the firm.
