Former John Crane MD Jonathan Thorpe launches new UK distribution business

Former John Crane MD, Jonathan Thorpe has launched a new business to distribute the award-winning Battat brands to UK retailers.

With immediate effect – and following the closure of John Crane Ltd last month – Our Generation Dolls, B Toys, Baby B, Bristle Blocks, Drive and Woodzies will be sold through the newly formed Jonathan’s Toys Ltd.

Thorpe is well known in the UK toy market, prior to his stint at John Crane he ran Playmobil in the UK and the US for a number of years. He also spent several years at International Greetings and was one of the founders of eToys.

After overseeing the sale of John Crane properties, he now relished his new role.

“Of course it is sad when a long-established business decides to close but I am thrilled to announce that Jonathan’s Toys already has stock arriving and more importantly, orders for that stock Not a bad start when we hadn’t even officially opened our doors for business,” said Thorpe.

“We know the demand is there and we are especially encouraged by the reaction to the new Glitter Girls products. We will be showing at London Toy Fair 2019 and are planning to have a well established presence in the market by then.”
