Schleich’s Paul Dearlove prepares to take on London Marathon

Paul Dearlove, marketing manager at Schleich, and his daughter Neve, are preparing to take on the London Marathon, next month. The pair will raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

In the UK there are over 400,000 people living with Type 1 Diabetes, including both Paul and Neve, who are running on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF); a charity dedicated to finding a cure for, and improving the lives of all those who battle this devastating condition.

“For sure it makes life harder with daily worries over what to eat and constantly monitoring blood sugar levels," explained Paul Dearlove. "But by running this marathon together, we hope to prove that diabetes doesn’t stop you doing anything in life.”

Dearlove added that he and his daughter have clocked up nearly 40,000 insulin injections between them, highlighting the hindrance the condition can cause to daily life.

They hope to raise over £4,000 for JDRF, with the funds going towards finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

“JDRF is a charity very close to our family’s hearts and the London Marathon is the perfect event to prove that we don’t let this condition effect our daily lives," added Dearlove. "To support the charity in the hope that they will one day find a cure is more than enough to get us through.”
