Hasbro launches own crowdfunding platform HasLab with Star Wars toys

Hasbro is taking new steps into the world of crowdfunding with the maiden voyage of a new community platform, HasLab.

If that’s not enough, the first toy to hit the platform has also been detailed: Jabba’s Sail Barge from Star Wars.

Following the crowdfunding formula, the HasLab toy will not be created by the toy firm unless the project receives a set number of pledges, making the site a hot spot for rare editions and items.

However, unlike traditional crowdfunding platforms, HasLab toys will be set and executed by Hasbro itself, including the crowdfunding, production and the shipping.

HasLab’s Jabba’s Palace has been described as ‘the largest Hasbro Star Wars product ever created.’ To fund the project, Hasbro is looking for 5,000 backers to pledge $499.99 each for the toy.

‘Measuring approximately four-foot long, this vast vehicle is a dream item for any Star Wars collection,’ read a project description. ‘The Vintage Collection Jabba’s Sail Barge features exquisitely detailed, fan accessible decks that complement 3.75 inch figures, allowing fans and collectors to recreate intense battles in the Star Wars saga.’

The project has 40 days remaining on HasLab and has so far secured 1733 of the required 5,000 backers.
