Hasbro and Paramount date first Micronauts movie

Paramount and Allspark Pictures have set dates for a slate of geek-favourite properties from the Hasbro universe, including GI Joe and Micronauts.

Both are scheduled to hit cinemas in 2020 with GI Joe slated for release in March 2020 and Micronauts following up on October 16, the same year.

Originally based on the licensed Japanese toy lne Microman, Micronauts was brought to a US audience through Marvel Comics in a story that ran from 1979 to 1984, with other series following over the years.

IDW has recently been granted the licensing rights to the property to develop a new comic book series as part of its own shared Hasbro comicverse.

JJ Abrams was originally attached to a Micronauts movie before the Hasbro universe plans were announced. The director’s involvement with the current project is yet to be confirmed.
