TOMY to take Greedy Granny on Smyths tour

TOMY has announced a series of shopper events at Smyths Toys stores across the UK.

Starting this Sunday 10th September at the Staple Corner store, coinciding with National Grandparents Day, youngsters will have the chance to meet the real-life greedy granny.

Greedy Granny will be on the road from September to November, with appearances at Smyths stores in London, West Sussex, Leeds and West Yorkshire, encouraging visitors to dress up and take pictures with the outrageous character.

"We are delighted to be working with TOMY on this event, it is great to be able to provide our customers with an enjoyable experience in our stores," commented Amy Matthews, PR and promotions executive for Smyths Toys Superstores. "Our aim is to offer a fun-filled shopping experience for all of our customers and what better way to do that then offer them the chance to meet the real Greedy Granny and play the game in-store.”

"We are very excited to be partnering with Smyths to kick off the Games peak season. Launched a year ago, Greedy Granny has proved to be a top selling children’s game, thanks to its quirkiness," added Severine Hemms, TOMY senior trade marketing manager.

"The Greedy Granny Tour is a great opportunity to share the fun and mischief of the game ahead of the Christmas season," continued Hemms. "We know that in games, getting children and adults to play the game is the winning formula to raise interest and drive sales."

The Greedy Granny Tour will be taking place at the following locations:

  • Smyths Staples Corner Retail Park, Geron Way, London NW2 6LW, 10th September: 11am to 4pm.
