Drone racer Luke Bannister joins Spin Master for air Hogs DR1 launch

Spin Master has teamed with the professional drone racer Luke Bannister for the launch of its latest line from Air Hogs.

Known as BanniUK, Bannister will support the RC brand’s growing drone race portfolio through numerous event appearances, advertising and digital content.

The professional was brought on board to celebrate the launch of Spin Master’s Air Hog’s DR1 FPV Race Drones. Bannister joined the XBlades Racing team in 2016, beating 150 international challengers to win the inaugural World Drone Prix.

The British teen has gone on to take home European and UK National championship titles, placing first at the DR1 Invitational in Los Angeles.

“I am excited to be teaming up with Air Hogs to help bring this exhilarating sport to kids around the world,” said Bannister. “Drone racing has exploded in popularity since coming on to the scene just a few years ago and it offers kids an incredible freedom to explore.”

Bannister joins fellow FPV drone pilot Johnny Schaer on the Air Hogs race roster. This year will see the two pilots team to showcase Air Hogs’ DR1 FPV Race Drone and Air Hogs DR1 Micro Race Drone.

“Luke and Johnny represent the essence of Air Hogs. They are visionaries in a growing global sport, pushing the boundaries of flight and constantly striving for greatness,” said Ben Gadbois, president and COO, Spin Master.

“Air Hogs is designed to deliver adrenaline fuelled excitement and through this partnership we aim to inspire kids to race like pros.”

To kick off his partnership, Bannister joined VIP, media and retailers along with his NEXXBlades teammates for the UK launch of the Air Hogs DR1 race drones in London earlier this week.

Held at KidZania in Westfield, the launch event welcomed a host of UK influencers and gadget fans, including TV’s Jason Bradbury.

Bannister will now head to the US, joining DR1 racing for an exclusive event on July 14th in New York.
