Can you give us a brief overview of EOLO Sports, how are you positioned in the global outdoor toy market?
Eolo Sport was established in 1978 specialised in the production of nylon kites. We had our own production site in Spain with more than 200 workers producing kites worldwide. In 2000 we move our production to China and established EoloSport Hong Kong which is now the mother company. Since then the company evolved into Outdoor toys as a natural extension swim and dive, flying toys, juggling and of course kites. All our toys are designed in-house and made and produced from our own tooling which makes our items unique and innovative. EoloSport HK currently sells in more than 30 countries with offices in Hong Kong, Spain, and our UK showroom with our partner Geemac.
How was 2016 for you guys, how has 2017 performance been so far and how is it comparing?
2016 was a great year for Eolo growing over 25% thanks to our License Character Swim Mask. 2017 continues strong and we expect a 10%-15% increase.
What are the key markets for you guys, how important is the UK business compared to the global operations?
Our main markets are Spain, France, UK, Germany, Italy with the UK being our 3rd market in turnover.
What are the big launches for EOLO for 2017, how will these drive the global and the UK business?
In 2017 we presented Aqua creatures our new water fun range which is currently TV promoted in Spain, Italy, Australia and already have contracts for summer 2017 for US and Canada. The patented line was very well received at Distoy and we expected to be one of our main lines for 2018 also. We also presented our new Marvel Parachute Figures, a pocket money classic toy with unique Marvel figure designs! A lot more to come for 2018!
You have a raft of popular licences, what have been the best performers for you?
Our main licenses are Disney, Marvel, Star Wars which we hold rights for Europe, East Europe, Middle East and Africa with main focus this year in Spiderman and Cars. We also hold Minions license for Europe, East Europe and Russia with some great developments for this 2017 summer like the Minions Character Swim Mask!
What do these licenses bring to the outdoor toy market, how have they helped bolster sales for you?
We always try to develop unique concepts and own tooled toys, in this sense license means a great development opportunity for us and a way to protect our developments against copies.
Who are your key retailers and why should retailers be excited to work with you guys this year and beyond?
Our key partners are The Entertainer, Smyths, Asda, Tesco … We have unique lines that are very stable and sale year on year, also we are always innovating and developing new lines that will refresh the outdoor section. We deliver good quality product that performs!
Distoy was fully booked with great support in our new lines for 2018, we will continue innovating and developing great outdoor fun… Keep Smiling!
