Feudal Japan-inspired board game Rising Sun takes over $2m on Kickstarter

A new board game inspired by Japanese history and folklore has smashed its Kickstarter goal in a matter of days.

Created by acclaimed designer Eric M. Lang (Blood Rage), Rising Sun sees players attempting to conquer the ancient land using a number of different game mechanics including military and political tactics.

The game achieved its goal of $300,000 in a matter of hours and is currently sitting at over $2 million. With 20 days still left on the campaign, there is plenty of time to pledge for your copy of the game, with a minimum pledge of $100. Pledging will also net you an exclusive Pheonix miniature playing piece.

The game reunites the same creative forces responsible for the smash hit Blood Rage, with artwork by Adrian Smith and intricate miniatures sculpted under the direction of Mike McVey.
