Vincent Van Gogh action figure paints perfect picture on Kickstarter

A Vincent Van Gogh action figure has smashed its goal of raising $20,000 on the crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter.

The figure – a five-inch PVC replica of the iconic artist – arrives with removable ears and is slated to be the first release in a series of art history heroes.

Created by the team at Today is Art Day, the project has secured a total of $66,000 from over 1,500 backers on Kickstarter, with 31 days of the project remaining live on the crowdfunding platform.

“For the last two years, Today is Art Day had a mission to make art and art history more fun and attractive to a wider audience,” read a statement from the creators.

“We want to try something new, and offer our fans a new way to bring art into their daily life. With the Vincent Van Gogh action figure, we want to pay tribute to one of the greatest painters of all time.”

Delivering the action figure boxed with a collection of his most iconic work, including Sunflowers and The Starry Night, Today is Art Day is now looking to place the action figures within major museum shops across the world.
