Rubik’s is celebrating a banner year, boasting $250 million in sales at retail globally and a 45% year on year increase in sales between 2015 and 2016.
Other key sales news from last year included a 40% increase in sales of original 3×3 Cubes, as well as half year sales for Race doubling the total year sales from 2015, whilst over 70,000 units of Junior Bear had been shipped since launch in August 2016. These figures represent the highest sales since the original Cube’s launch in 1980 – reinforcing the ongoing successes and continued demand in the market for all things Rubik’s.
Following on from this announcement, Rubik’s has detailed several new product lines coming in 2017 Rubik’s Magic from Fantasma (to be previewed at Nuremberg Toy Fair), a Junior range and Professor Rubik’s Puzzle Books.
Along with these new announcements, Rubik’s has tapped Egmont Publishing for a series of puzzle books and magazines that will hit UK shelves in 2017. Elsewhere, the firm has partnered with Paragon Entertainment for a series of Escape Rooms due to appear at theme parks and entertainment centers across the world in the not too distant future.
