There’s no denying that collectables are the hottest thing in toys right now. Ever since the days of the Beanie Baby, the addictive nature of collectability has been a driving force behind some of the biggest toy lines. In 2017, collectable lines like Funko Pops have built up such a momentum that they are announcing multiple new lines a week. Funko Pop! Vinyl
Pop culture gurus Funko are barrelling headfirst into 2017 with Powerpuff Girls pop figures bringing Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup to shelves everywhere in February. Continuing the theme of female superheroes, the DC Bombshells range brings some of your favourite DC femme fetales to vinyl form in 1950s pin-up style, featuring such favourites as Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman and Batgirl.
Elsewhere, Star Wars Rebels villains get the vinyl treatment with figures of The Inquisitor, Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother heading to Walmart in February.Terrifyingly popular video game Five Nights at Freddy’s will see pop vinyls hit store shelves in early February, along with figures from the upcoming Dreamworks animation, Boss Baby. Funko has also added Five Nights At Freddy’s to their Pint Sized Heroes line.
Earlier this week we reported that Titan would be delighting science fiction fans by adding two new collections to its Star Trek and Doctor Who ranges. In addition the company has announced a blind-box Cartoon Network range featuring such animated icons as Johnny Bravo, Steven Universe and Jake from Adventure Time. Earlier this month Titan also revealed that they will be launching a range of blind-box figures based on cult videogame Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The home of cult toy collectables McFarlane has announced a new addition to its Gears of War 4 line in the form of Del Walker, who comes complete with a huge Buzzkill weapon and codes for downloadable content, which can be redeemed in the Xbox One videogame. Del will hit shelves in Spring 2017 and it available for pre-order now. Also coming from the firm is the NBA Series 30 featuring basketball stars including Kevin Durant as well as a figure based on anime hero Naruto.
