Historian’s toy car collection fetches £100,000 at auction

A retired motoring historian who has been collecting toy cars for the past 60 years, recently sold his collection at auction, reaching almost £100,000.

67-year-old Anders Clausager collected 700 toy cars in total, which caused an auctioneer to hold individual auction because Clausager was moving house.

The initial estimate for the collection was £40,000-£60,000, however this nearly doubled, with one individual lot securing more than £2,000.

One collector at the auction snapped up a pack of 12 LEGO miniatures for £2,100, while a French Dinky Toys set sold for £1,450.

Other toy car brands included in the auction were Corgi and Matchbox.
