LEGO celebrates record year with 13 new LEGO Batman products

LEGO has begun to roll out its new LEGO Batman line after the firm announced it expects 2016 to beat 2015’s record sales.

The firm cited the release of Rogue One and the opening of its flagship store in Leicester Square as sales boosters in 2016.

"We think we’re on track for another record year," Glenn Able, vice president, direct to consumer EMEA, told The Independent, "We’ve had double-digit growth for the past 12 years and we’re really pleased with the results of the company.”

The first wave of LEGO playsets and vehicles based on the upcoming film have begun to hit shelves, alongside a range of collectible mini figures. The series of 13 playsets are based on well-known Batman villains including The Joker, The Penguin, Scare Crow, Mr. Freeze and more. The larger sets include models based on the Batcave and Arkham Asylum the latter of which boasts an impressive 12 minifigures.
