American Girl reveals 2017 Girl of the Year doll

American Girl is kicking off the New Year with the release of the company’s 2017 Girl of the Year, in the form of Gabriela McBride.

Available as an 18-inch doll featuring curly, brown hair, a fun outfit and a book detailing her story, McBride has been designed to help young girls find their creative voices and speak out to make a difference.

Fans will also be able to get their hands on several performance-inspired outfits, including a dance barre, rehearsal and dance outfits, plus pretend headphones and a microphone.

To help get McBride’s message across, American Girl has also partnered with publisher Scholastic to launch a series of books titled Express Yourself.

The books will teach young children how to use poetry as a tool for self-expression.
