US: Fisher-Price teams with Indiegogo for app-controlled night light launch

Fisher-Price has teamed with the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to launch the first app-controlled night light and sound machine for youngsters.

The soother has been billed as the latest product from the pre-school specialist to feature Fisher-Price Smart Connect technology, meaning parents can control their collection of baby products through smartphones and tablets.

Called Smart Connect Deluxe Soother, the new launch features a range of light and sound settings that can be adjusted through the Smart Connect app, including soothing music, nature sounds and pink noise.

With the ability to develop personalised Sleep Stages, the soother has been designed to help parents create easier bedtime routines for newborns and children.

The product is currently available to pre-order through the Indiegogo site.

“By accepting pre-orders through Indiegogo, we’re connecting with today’s parents through an entirely different distribution channel and creating direct engagement with our customers,” said Henry Hsiao, VP strategic development, Mattel.

“We’re listening to feedback from parnets about the Deluxe Soother so we can understand what they love about it and what they might want to see in future versions of the product.”

The Smart Connect Deluxe Soother will be available in stores across the US from May next year and will carry a $49.99 price tag.
