US: Fake Smyths Toys Facebook page targets unsuspecting shoppers

Scammers have created a fake Facebook page mimicking Smyths Toys, which offers unsuspecting shoppers the chance to win a $300 (£263) gift card.

Shoppers can be in with a ‘chance of winning’ by liking and sharing the page, however, by doing so the hackers are able to bombard users with scams, as well as gain access to Facebook profiles.

So far, over 25,000 people have liked the page and over 11,000 have shared the competition.

Smyths Toys are currently aware of the problem, and are working to get it removed.
