ICTI CARE has teamed with Impactt to develop its program to better support toy manufacturers in the India.
Impactt is a leading consultancy specialising in ethical trade, human rights and labour standards and after feedback from suppliers in the ICTI CARE Program in India, Impactt and ICTI CARE co-created a 12-month incubator programme to further strengthen ICTI CARE standards in India.
“India poses exciting opportunities for toy manufacturing, but it remains a relatively high-risk country from a responsible sourcing perspective," said Carmel Giblin, CEO and president, ICTI CARE.
"Our partnership with Impactt, and the enhanced on-the-ground support it enables us to provide to factories, will be crucial to the successful development of India’s burgeoning toy industry. The incubator programme will work towards delivering enhanced resources and capacity building to Indian suppliers that will allow us to expand ICTI CARE certification and develop responsible sourcing standards in the country."
Key features of the program include a comprehensive legal review resulting in a user-friendly guide to the ICTI CARE code for suppliers with a particular focus on Indian law. Impactt and ICTI CARE will also work closely to deliver capability building programs tailored to the needs of Indian toy manufacturers.
Rosey Hurst, founder, Impactt, added: “We are delighted to bring our Indian expertise to support this important phase of ICTI-CARE’s development. This is a tremendous opportunity to ensure that the growth of India’s toy industry brings meaningful benefits to both businesses and workers.”
