Hasbro has declared that 2017 will be the biggest year to date for its My Little Pony franchise, as the firm renews to hit TV series and gears for the premiere of its My Little Pony: The Movie.
The global play and entertainment company has detailed the return of two of its popular My Little Pony animated series, with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls both making their return in 2017.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will air on Discovery Family Channel in spring next year, while My Little Pony: Equestria Girls will make its comeback with three new TV specials, following this year’s hit Legends of Everfree TV movie.
According to Hasbro, the aim of the renewals is to help drive excitement for the firm’s animated feature film My Little Pony: The Movie, which will premiere worldwide on October 6th, 2017.
The film will feature the voice talent of the likes of Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black), Emily Blunt (Into the Woods) and the pop sensation Sia.
“2017 will be the biggest year in the history of the My Little Pony franchise, including new and exciting stories that will air across television, various digital platforms and movie screens,” said Stephen Davis, EVP and chief content officer at Hasbro.
“The characters and humour of the My Little Pony brand appeals to audiences of all ages and demographics and we think Pony fans are going to love what’s in store in the coming year.”
