Spin Master lifts the lid on Hatchimals at its UK launch

Spin Master has hatched its new line of Hatchimals tech toys.

Having been shrouded in secrecy as to what’s within the eggs, todays’ ‘Hatchimals Day’ has seen the new line go on sale, with YouTube star Tiana (of ToysandMe) unveiling the first Hatchimal to the UK public.

Nestled inside a brightly speckled egg, the Hatchimal responds to human touch and begins to hatch and communicate through taps, pecks, lights and sound, with the Hatchimal only revealed when it hatches.

Once out of the egg, a child can raise their Hatchimal through three phases, from baby to full-grown Hatchimal, teaching it to walk, talk, play games and more. There are two Hatchimals species: Pengulas and Draggles. However, it isn’t until the moment of the hatch that children will learn which Hatchimal has chosen them.

“Hatchimals has been a closely guarded secret since it was previewed exclusively to the toy industry at the New York Toy Fair," said Charlotte Yates, a spokesperson for Spin Master.

"Excitement has been building all year and we’re delighted that Hatchimals Day has arrived and we’re finally able to share the magic."

Stuart Grant, director of buying at The Entertainer, added: "The innovation in this toy is simply magical and is sure to bring joy to thousands of children on Christmas morning.

"A sure fire contestant for toy of the year, buy it while we still have stock."

The Entertainer is hosting Hatchimals demonstrations at its stores across the country at 2pm on Saturday, October 8th October as part of the retailer’s 35th birthday celebrations.
