Kickstarter launches in Asia with Hong Kong and Singapore operations

Crowdfunding site Kickstarter has expanded its international reach with the launch of a new Asian arm.

The site has now opened operations across Hong Kong and Singapore, allowing creative in the respective territories to work with overseas partners via the website.

Until now, Kickstarter has operated in North America, Australia and Europe.

Residents in Hong Kong and Singapore can now present projects from a local base with fundraising goals set in Hong Kong or Singapore dollars.

Kickstarter will now have to compete with local crowdfunding platforms such as Singapore’s MoolahSense and OurCrowd of Hong Kong’s FringeBacker.
