The Toy Store eyes fleet of UK stores despite Oxford Street departure

The Toy Store has detailed its plans to open up to six UK stores, despite closing its Oxford Street store only a few months ago.

The retailer, owned by Dubai-based RM Retail group, opened a flagship store last September, however, it left the site at the end of June.

Despite being without a UK flagship. The Toy Store has revealed that it is still looking to open around five or six stores across the country.

“We are looking to open stores in key larger shopping mall locations across the UK,” The Toy Store’s chief financial officer, Mark Handley told Retail Week.

The toy retailer has not committed to a specific time frame for the openings however, citing ‘uncertainties in the UK market’ following the result of the Brexit vote in June.

The Toy Store is “waiting for the right strategic locations to come available,” said Handley.
