Hasbro bumps off Mrs White and introduces fresh suspect for Cluedo

Hasbro has killed off Cluedo’s Mrs. White for good.

The long-time housekeeper of the world’s most deadly house has been replaced by the mysterious Dr. Orchid, the adopted daughter of the mansion’s owner (and the usual victim in the game) Dr. Black.

This is the first time since the game launched in 1949 that one of the original six characters has been axed and Dr Orchid is the first new character that has been introduced into the standard edition.

Dr. Orchid joins Cluedo regulars Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlet and Mrs. Peacock.

“It was a difficult decision to say goodbye to Mrs. White – but after 70 years of suspicious activity, we decided that one of the characters had to go," said Craig Wilkins, marketing director for Hasbro in the UK and Ireland.

“Dr. Orchid is a brilliant new character with a rich backstory and links to the Black fortune. We’re sure families across the UK, Ireland and the world will continue to create thrilling murder mysteries with all six suspects inside of the iconic Tudor Mansion. ”

Upon hearing the news that Hasbro had bumped off Mrs White, Colonel Mustard stated: “We’ve been having dinner parties for nearly seventy years and something like this always crops up."

Dr. Orchid will appear in the new edition of Cluedo, available in stores from later this month.

To mark the news, Hasbro held a dinner party for the Cluedo regulars last Friday and ToyNews was there to witness the demise of Mrs White first hand. The image is below (NSFW):
