Indie retailer Fairies n Frogs to shut up shop this July

Bedford independent toy retailer, Fairies n Frogs will be closing its doors for the last time this July.

The award-winning retailer that resides on Church Street in Ampthill has decided to shut up shop following an unsuccessful search for a new owner to take over the business.

Luan Hall, owner of Fairies n Frogs, a store that boasts a wide collection of unique traditional toys, told ToyNews earlier this year she was stepping away from the business owing to health issues.

Since then Hall has been on the lookout for a buyer to take on the Fairies n Frogs name, but amid concern that the landlord was planning to sell the building off, has been left unsuccessful.

“We were hoping to have a new buyer take over but it has been unsuccessful due to my landlord writing to us and advising her is possibly selling the building from which we trade,” said Hall.

“The new buyer is not willing to take on a going concern with this hanging in the balance.”

While the store will now close on July 31st this year, Hall has also detailed the possibility of opening a new store on the Isle of Wight later next year.

“I would like to thank everyone for their help, support and friendly banter over the past six years,” continued Hall.

“It’s been a fun playtime and we will be in touch in the future should our plans be fruitful.”
