Team ToyNews completes 24-hour Twister Marathon for NSPCC

It nearly killed us.

Billy and I haven’t spoken since 2 o’clock Saturday morning and Jade was almost reported missing having slept through Saturday evening to about an hour ago.

But despite the sweat, sweat and tears (there was no blood, fortunately) Team ToyNews completed the biggest test of character it has faced to date: the 24 hour Twistermarathon.

Over the course of Friday, May 27th to Saturday, May 28th, the ‘trio’ completed over 100 games of Twister and found their appendages forced into areas of their colleagues’ personal space that no one would willingly venture towards.

Of course, the challenge wouldn’t have been the same were it not for the support, love and kind donations offered by friends old, new and from the industry as well as the odd member of the public and a Board Game Club regular.

Spurred on by donations pledged throughout the day, the team finished the 24 hour stint to news that it had surpassed its fundraising goal of £1,000 all of which is now making its way to the NSPCC.

“Thanks to everyone who came down to join us on the mat, spur us on or hurl a variety of insults at us, without you guys, we’d have just been three nutters in morphsuits playing Twister in a hotel room,” said Billy Langsworthy, editor of ToyNews.

“It was great to see so many support us and wonderful to see the pledges roll in. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped us pass our goal of £1,000, your help is massively appreciated.”

The team is now busy making plans for next year’s Big Board Game Challenge.

“Life sized Mouse Trap would be preferable,” added Robert Hutchins, deputy editor on ToyNews. “Anything where I can sit and eat cheese for 24 hours is an instant winner.”
